Ten Minutes That Will Make You Love Meditation
QR and the practice of Meditation is like a doorway to the experience of Self as an expression of equanimity, compassion, and curiosity. While there are hundreds of “formal meditations” taught around the world, the challenge is to find what is right for you. No doubt, some meditations will be more agreeable to your constitution than others. Like certain foods that agree with you and some that do not, the same may be said of meditation. You will notice preferences. Some people love Yoga, others, not so much. Some people love sitting meditation or Mantra, (chanting words or phrases in prayer or song). There are literally thousands of meditations. You may have heard of Mindfulness Meditation, which I taught in hospital settings for over 15 years, focusing on helping chronic pain patients. One meditation is not “better” than another. As a young student of Yoga, one meditation teacher told me, “find one, do it for a few months or years, and see how it suits you. If you like it, do it for life.” In a way the meditation finds you.
